Contact the Developer

GammonMatch is made by one developer, Fraser, who reads every message. To get in touch, start a game against the bot and tap the chat bubble next to the dice. Write your message there; replies appear in the same chat the next time you open it.

For a bug, it helps to say what you tapped, what you expected and what happened instead, and whether you were on the website or in the app.

Common Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Every mode works straight away. Your settings, statistics and progress are saved on your device.

How do I play a friend?

Tap Friend, then Share or Copy link and send the link to your friend. They can open it in the app or in any browser without installing anything, and you will see when they join. More about playing with friends.

I'm not getting "your turn" notifications

Notifications are for friend games. While you wait for your friend to move, tap Get Notified and allow notifications when asked. If you declined earlier, turn them on in iOS Settings > Notifications > GammonMatch, or in your browser's site settings. They only arrive while the app is in the background, and stop when the game room expires 24 hours after the last move.

How strong are the bots?

There are six levels, from Beginner to Grandmaster. The top level uses GNU Backgammon's neural networks, one of the strongest backgammon engines available.

How do I learn the rules?

Start with the board setup, then the strategy guide and the best opening moves. The daily challenge is a good way to practise.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app, or clearing your browser data for gammonmatch.com, removes everything stored on your device. To have data linked to you deleted from our servers, send a message through the chat with your display name. The privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
